JACKSON, MI — A fire Saturday afternoon displaced a family of six after it caused significant damage to their home.
Fire crews were called at about 2 p.m. Oct. 11 to the home in the 100 block of Wren Street, between West High and Morrell streets and east of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, for a report of a structure fire, Jackson Fire Capt. Ryan Hendricks said.
Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the two story-home. Firefighters were able to quell the blaze quickly, Hendricks said.
The house has significant heat and smoke damage, making it uninhabitable in its current state, Hendricks said.
One adult and five children live in the home. The American Red Cross is assisting them, Hendricks said.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
