NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A 20-year-old man has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide following the fatal shooting of his pregnant girlfriend.

Amare Ramey reportedly told detectives that he was present during the shooting and manipulating the gun when it went off, striking 17-year-old Amya Finney in the stomach.

Finney was two months pregnant with Ramey’s child, according to information released by the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The shooting happened inside a home in Madison Sunday morning. The mother of the victim told MNPD that she heard the couple arguing when her daughter called and asked to be picked up from her boyfriend’s home. Finney’s mother then said the phone call ended.
