WAYNE CO., Ill. (WFIE) - In Wayne County, a Southern Illinois man charged in a homicide case has been sentenced.

Court records show that the homicide and aggravated DUI charges against 37-year-old Johnny Green were dismissed. They show he pleaded guilty to a petty offense of improper traffic lane use.

Officials say Green was then ordered to pay fines and was placed on one year of court supervision.

In May of 2024 , Illinois State Police say Green was driving side-by-side when it went off the road and rolled over.

Troopers say the front passenger was killed in the accident.

Court records show the family of the victim had wanted Green released since the beginning.
