A human skull has been found in a carrier bag at a harbour in Torbay.

The skull was located at the Man and Boy statue at Brixham Harbour.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Kings Quay after a carrier bag containing what appeared to be bone was found at 3.40pm on Thursday, October 9.

Police have now confirmed that the bag contained a human skull.

The force said it will be examined by specialists to confirm its age.

Enquiries have suggested that the skull was located by fishermen out at sea and brought to shore, although an investigation is currently ongoing.
