CHARLOTTE, NC – The state DMV has begun certifying private Driver’s Ed schools to administer road tests for teens who want to get their Level 2 Limited Provisional Driver’s License.
The Level 2 Limited Provisional license allows teens 16 years of age or older to drive unsupervised from 5am- 9pm and with a supervised driver outside of those hours.
The change allows those with a level 1 limited permit to complete the driving skills test outside of a NCDMV office.
This initiative aims to reduce wait times at driver license offices.
Teens can still choose a traditional road test at an NCDMV office, but those who test at certified schools will only need a brief NCDMV visit to finalize their license, streamlining the process.
This changes are effective immediately, and apply only to non
