Strictly Come Dancing frontrunner Lewis Cope has hit back at the suggestion that he’s a “professional” dancer.

Lewis was drafted in as a last-minute replacement for Game Of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn shortly before this year’s series of Strictly got underway.

During the pre-recorded launch show, he quickly impressed viewers with his dance abilities, and as the weeks have gone on, he’s consistently among the highest scorers on the line-up.

However, he’s also been at the centre of some debate due to his past dance experience, which included appearing in the lead role of Billy Elliott on the West End as a child actor, and taking part in the talent search Got To Dance when he was still a teenager .
