A woman arrested on suspicion of murdering two children in Stafford was related to the victims, police have confirmed.

Meraj Ul Zahra, aged two, and three-year-old Abdul Momin Alfaateh, were both found injured and unresponsive inside a property in Corporation Street on Sunday, October 12.

Tragically, the youngsters were pronounced dead at the scene.

Staffordshire Police said the 43-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder has now been detained under the Mental Health Act after being assessed by medical professionals.

The force also confirmed the woman, from the Stafford area, was related to the victims.
