Lostprophets paedophile Ian Watkins allegedly "spent thousands" on his protection in prison before his death.

An inmate at HMP Wakefield, where Watkins met his end last Saturday, previously disclosed how the disgraced singer supposedly purchased friendships at a steep price. This claim was made in a book published last year by Jonathan Levi and Emma French titled Inside Wakefield Prison: Life Behind Bars in the Monster Mansion.

The unnamed prisoner revealed: "He has access to money and spends his time buying his friendship. Money exchanges are easily done in prison. The person you're paying, you simply take their friends' or families' phone number on the outside, give that number over the phone to your family.
