DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A teenage driver is facing a felony charge in connection with a deadly crash in Durham over the weekend, police said.
According to the Durham Police Department, the crash happened on Saturday around 4 a.m. on North Carolina Highway 147 north at Exit 3B, near Fayetteville Street.
An investigation determined a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling on NC 147 at a high rate of speed when it struck a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was preparing to take Exit 3B. The crash caused the SUV to lose control, hitting the guardrail and overturning several times.
Police said 18-year-old Josh Aldolfo Rodriguez-Higinio of Asheboro, a passenger in the SUV, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Duke Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
