The postgame altercation wasn’t the only odd thing about Sunday night’s showdown at Arrowhead Stadium between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs. The penalty discrepancy between the two teams sticks out like a sore thumb.

During the Chiefs’ 30-17 Week 6 win over the Lions, there were just four penalties called in the entire game -- totaling 38 yards.

Nothing unusual about that, right?

Well, here’s the kicker: all four were called on Detroit. Kansas City finished the night completely unblemished.

That clean slate came just a week after the Chiefs’ 13-penalty, 109-yard mess in a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not only does it make Kansas City the first team this season to play a penalty-free game, but also the first to do so since Week 18 of the 2023 season.
