FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — The City of Foley is moving ahead with its plans for a new park in the Mills Community.

The Foley City Council recently approved plans for services to build the park and for city crews to rent equipment to begin construction.

Approved services include revising the stormwater plans for the site, as well as conducting topographic and tree surveys, according to a city news release.

Additionally, the city will rent equipment for the Public Works Department crews to clear the site and assist in building the park, which Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich said will save money by not hiring outside contractors.

"Utilizing city forces may take a little longer, but by renting this equipment, we think we'll be to save several hundred thousand dollars," he said.
