PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A 33-year-old man is dead, and another man is in custody after a shooting in the West Valley over the weekend.

Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, Peoria police say officers responded to reports of gunshots near 95th and Peoria avenues. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot lying in the middle of a street.

Despite efforts to save his life, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He’s been identified as James Durham of Surprise.

Witnesses reported seeing several people flee in a red sedan. Officers soon found a car matching the description, then pulled it over and detained the passengers.

Police say that one of the occupants, 46-year-old Henry Juarez-Garcia of Peoria, was arrested. He was later booked into the Maricopa County jail on charges includ
