SILVER SPRING, Md. (DC News Now) -- Police said they arrested a man who murdered his ex-girlfriend Sunday.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said officers went to the 1700 block of Imperial Dr. in Silver Spring after they received a call about gunfire in the area.

When they arrived, they found Monique Charles, 47, of Brooklyn, N.Y. had been shot. She died there.

Police said Charles was leaving the location when her ex, Earl Walker, 47, came up to her and shot Charles a number of times. Investigators said it was a witness who identified Walker and who gave police a description of the car he drove when he left the location on Imperial Drive.

Police went to Walker's neighborhood in Derwood. They said they saw him driving away and tried to stop him, but he kept going. Offic
