Black Friday brought major changes in The San Diego Union-Tribune’s high school football poll.
Five of the top 10 teams lost over the weekend.
Cathedral Catholic High School (5-2), ranked No. 2 last week, lost to Point Loma and dropped to No. 5. Point Loma (7-0), which was unranked last week, is now No. 8.
Carlsbad (7-0), which beat Mission Hills, jumps from No. 5 to No. 2, with Mission Hills falling from No. 3 to No. 4.
San Marcos (5-2), which was No. 7, lost to La Costa Canyon and fell to No. 9. La Costa Canyon (6-1) jumped from No. 4 to No. 3. As a result, Rancho Bernardo (8-0), which beat El Camino, moved from No. 8 to No. 7.
Mount Miguel (5-3), which lost to Granite Hills, fell from ninth to 10th, while Granite Hills (4-3) stayed at No. 6.
