ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (WOIO) - As the government shutdown drags on, thousands of Ohio federal workers are left wondering when their next paycheck will come. A local restaurant is trying to do its part to help.
There are roughly 56,000 Ohio federal employees. And because of the government shutdown, some are having to worry about their next meal. On Monday, Bearden’s, a burger joint in Rocky River, tried help giving out free burgers to any furloughed government employee. You just had to present a government ID.
Stephen Storch, the diner’s manager, says they did a similar giveaway six years ago, when the government shut down.
