The Virginia State Police is investigating two, separate tractor-trailer crashes that occurred over the weekend in Shenandoah County.
At approximately 9:21 p.m. Sunday a tractor-trailer traveling on Interstate 81 ran off the side of the road, struck a guardrail, an embankment and then overturned, according to state police information provided Monday. The crash occurred north of Woodstock.
The driver, Alexis T. Miranda, 24, was transported to an area hospital, where he attempted to flee, police report. Police took Miranda into custody and charged him with failure to maintain control of a vehicle, driving under the influence, having an open container, not wearing a seatbelt and not having a license in possession.
