MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Two Memphis Police Department (MPD) officers were arrested and relieved of duty for allegedly drag racing over the weekend.
37-year-old Raphael Willingham and 40-year-old Albert Green were charged with drag racing.
According to court records, on Sunday around 2:00 a.m. a THP trooper saw two silver Corvettes going eastbound on Winchester Road near Hickory Hill speeding. The two cars appeared to be racing each other but started braking when they saw the trooper.
The trooper charged both Willingham and Green with drag racing.
MPD released the following statement:
"Two off-duty officers were arrested this weekend by THP for allegedly drag racing. These actions do not reflect the professional standards or expectations of the men and women of the Memphis Police Department.
