AUSTIN, Texas -- Speaker of the Texas House Dustin Burrows and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced Monday that they are forming committees to investigate the disastrous flooding events that took place in Central Texas this July.

In a joint press release, the pair spoke about the creation and goals of these committees.

"The tragedy at Camp Mystic and the flooding disasters this summer have left a devastating impact on Texas families, communities, and our entire state. As Texans work to rebuild and recover, it is the responsibility of the legislature to understand what went wrong and ensure our state is better prepared for future emergencies," said Speaker Burrows.
