Construction projects across the D.C. area are taking longer to complete and costing more amid the Trump administration's ramp up of immigration enforcement.

Industry experts said the Immigration and Customs Enforcement crackdown is partly to blame for a shortage of workers.

Cuahutemoc Gonzalez, a local handyman with 20 years of experience, told News4 in Spanish that people are scared, and they don't want to go out and look for work.

James Broady, a real estate developer and general contractor in the District, said his business has taken a massive hit due to the labor shortage.

“Personally, it’s slowed down for me about 75%," he said.
