Seattle Reign FC captain Lauren "Lu" Barnes announced she will retire at the end of the season.

Barnes, the NWSL's all-time leader in appearances, has anchored the Reign since its 2013 inaugural season and helped win three Shields.

The Reign will honor Barnes at their final regular-season home match on Oct. 17 at Lumen Field.
