TAYLOR, Neb. (KSNB) - A now-former special education teacher has been charged with child abuse in Loup County, according to court records filed this month.

Mary Yarrington, 63, is charged with one count of intentional child abuse with no injury. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 26.

According to the arrest affidavit, authorities were notified after a staff member who works alongside Yarrington at Loup County Public Schools reported bruising on a student’s neck and ears. The bruising was noticed after Yarrington had been left alone with the child during a walk.

This incident happened in September with the superintendent later reaching out to the sheriff’s office regarding the situation.
