WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - After two years of war, fighting in Gaza has stopped and the remaining Israeli hostages are back home.

As the 20 living hostages reunite with their families in Israel , Jewish leaders in Kansas are processing the emotional weight of the past two years and the cautious optimism that comes with what they hope marks the end to the conflict that has impacted the entire Jewish community.

In Wichita, Emeritus Rabbi Michael Davis, with Congregation Emanu-El said that hearing the date, Oct. 7, hits home, even for those thousands of miles away from the conflict. He said that the release of the 20 Israeli hostages is but one small step that he hopes will be a long-lasting peace agreement in the Middle East.
