A two-block stretch of Shields Street will be closed to southbound traffic for several weeks to accommodate utility work, the city of Fort Collins said in an Oct. 9 news release.

The closure will run from Mountain Avenue to Akin Avenue between Oct. 20 and Dec. 10. The northbound lane on Shields Street will remain open during the closure of the southbound lane. Southbound traffic on Shields will be detoured at Laporte Avenue to either College Avenue or Taft Hill Road.

The utility work is related to the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project, the news release said.
