MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Before manufacturers can build products, they begin as students being built up themselves, in the classroom.

In this month’s Powering Progress, WKRG News 5’s Akievia McFarland visited Citronelle High School’s Center for Advanced Technology to see how its manufacturing program is creating pathways to careers.

For 11 plus years, the school has offered the Modern Manufacturing Academy.

“Manufacturing is a pretty big industry around here, and a lot of people rely on that to make a living,” senior Alanah Rivers said.

That’s why Keith Locke is making sure his manufacturing students are assembled with all the skills and tools needed to become successful.

“We have three robotic arms, we have a tabletop mill, we have four simulators,” Locke said.
