FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - People who live in Fresno can be eligible to get a $2 rebate per square foot for eligible lawn conversion projects.

The city is encouraging homeowners and businesses to take advantage of the expanded lawn-to-garden rebate program this fall.

This program is open to all customers who receive water through the city's public utilities. The city said that funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is supported in part by a $5 million grant from the Department of Water Resources.

"Homeowners can earn up $3,000 for converting up to 1,500 square feet of front lawn. The commercial, industrial, and institutional (CII) property can convert up to 4,000 square feet, with a maximum incentive of $8,000," the city said.
