LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill credits his leadership for a drop in violent crime, but in an exclusive interview with the 8 News Now Investigators, he adds that the increasing number of people dying on Las Vegas roads is unacceptable.
Voters first elected McMahill to his position leading the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2022. He won the June primary outright, securing him the job, which he took in January 2023. Last week, McMahill announced he would run for a second term.
“I think it's pretty simple,” McMahill said about why voters should re-elect him. “I told them what I was going to do, and I've done it.”
From October 2024 to last week, homicides in Metro’s jurisdiction have dropped 31%, according to the most recent data from the department. Pro
