WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. —
Families bid farewell to their loved ones in Windsor Locks Monday as the Connecticut National Guard’s 643rd Military Police Company deployed for a year-long mission.
The unit will be providing support to the U.S. Southern Command. Dozens of soldiers and their families said their goodbyes, but through all the tears, a sense of pride was shared among them all.
Major Mike Wilcoxson said their support and sacrifice isn’t overlooked.
"There’s a lot of love and support in this room from their families,” Wilcoxson said. “The unconditional support they give them is something we’re grateful for because they wouldn’t be able to do what they do best.”
