An Ohio lawmaker said he plans to file a resolution to halt a ban on intoxicating hemp products as soon as Tuesday, when Gov. Mike DeWine’s prohibition begins.

DeWine’s public health emergency bans sales for at least 90 days. After that, the order will automatically expire unless lawmakers extend it.

State Rep. Tex Fischer, a Mahoning County Republican who’s been a leading advocate of marijuana access in the legislature, said his resolution would end DeWine’s order after 30 days . The move is allowed through a 2021 law passed by Republican lawmakers in response to the governor’s indefinite coronavirus health orders.

Fischer’s resolution, if passed by majority votes in the House and Senate, would end DeWine’s hemp order in early November.
