TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Fire and Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to 19 rescue calls over the past few days due to heavy rain and flooding.
While they had to go out to big washes like Camino de la Tierra to get a few cars out, the TFD said the biggest culprit of getting cars stuck is the ones you may not expect.
“Unfortunately, there’s a lot of very fast-moving small washes that zigzag through the city,” said TFD special operations coordinator Jamie Sieminski. “They are just on little side street neighborhoods that, unless you live in that neighborhood, you’re not going to think about it.”
The small, unassuming washes send first responders out every year to get cars out, and the signage that the city puts out doesn’t seem to stop drivers.
