TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - On Day 13 of the government shutdown, many federal employees continue to work without pay.

Others are furloughed and have been notified their positions will be permanently eliminated, including around 100 people in Tucson who work at the U.S. Census Bureau.

13 News has learned that those employees are part of the Trump Administration’s reduction-in-force or RIF. This will go into effect on Dec. 9.

13 News reporter Raya Torres talked to Ken Beyersdorf, a longtime federal employee at the Census Bureau. He’s worked there for two decades.

“Honestly, a living hell,” Beyersdorf said about the situation.

The shutdown has been incredibly stressful for many, including Beyersdorf and his family.
