KNOXVILLE, Tenn — October is domestic violence awareness month, and it also means that the deadline is almost here for cosmetologists in the state to complete mandatory domestic violence training. A law passed in 2021 required all cosmetologists to complete training on domestic violence by December 31, 2025.
Right now, according to the state of Tennessee still nearly 2,000 remaining licensees have not completed the training.
Gracie Manning is a stylist at Salon Biyóshi and is one of 71,000 licensed cosmetologists that has completed her required domestic violence training
"In reality, you are like a therapist for them, so I mean I feel like that is such a big part of the job and I'm just so honored that people trust me with that," Manning said.
