LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Travelers experienced smooth journeys home as the Columbus Day holiday weekend concluded, despite inclement weather across the region.

Many travelers returning from the long weekend reported minimal disruptions on the roads, with some citing rain as the only hindrance.

Peter Pan Bus Lines noted a 12% increase in ridership compared to last year's holiday weekend, indicating a rise in public transportation usage.

"It's not been too bad—it has been mostly the rain that is just slowing us down," said Mick Madden, a traveler from Maine.

"We have been pretty fortunate that we haven't hit major traffic," said Jill Furumoto, who was traveling back from Syracuse.
