CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson predicts the government shutdown is on its way to becoming the longest in history.

With no endgame in sight, this shutdown is expected to roll on for the foreseeable future with political experts saying the impacts could become more widespread.

The government shutdown stretched into Day 13 on Monday with lawmakers on a break in observance of Columbus Day. But this didn't stop House Speaker Johnson from holding a conference at the capital, saying democrats were playing "costly political games" and still don't appear any closer to a compromise.
