An adult male fell overboard into rough waters in Woods Hole just after 3 PM on Monday, October 13, and was in the water for over an hour before being rescued by a helicopter.

A US Coast Guard helicopter rescue team pulled the man from the water around 4:30 PM, and he was transported to the Air Station on Joint Base Cape Cod. Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department personnel said the man was alive and would be taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

The Steamship Authority was not immediately available for comment, and it is unconfirmed if the man in the water was a passenger aboard a Steamship Authority vessel. Crew members aboard the Steamship Ferry The Island Home, spotted the man in the water and called for emergency assistance at 3:19 PM
