The chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners responds to a letter proposing to house ICE detainees in Douglas County corrections facilities
Last week, Sheriff Hanson and the League of United Latino American Citizens sent the letter, claiming that it would be a more humane option than making people relocate. Board Chairman Roger Garcia spoke with KETV today about why the board rejects the plan.
Garcia says the County Board is not in favor of the plan for multiple reasons, but the biggest is because immigration is a federal issue, and he doesn’t want local government getting involved.
