NSW farmers say they’ve been “betrayed” by a backflip from the state's energy agency, after the agency announced a major update to their renewables corridor project.

The NSW government’s EnergyCo announced a new study area as part of its New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), shifting part of an extensive corridor being looked at to install transmission lines in.

The new 3km-wide corridor shifted significantly from the original route. The new corridor looks at crossing land through Walcha area properties, and away from other towns like Tamworth.
