SEATTLE — Two people are recovering after a violent attack with a knife outside a Pioneer Square bar.

Police arrested a 53-year-old man at the scene and booked him into the King County Jail on felony assault charges. Investigators say he used homophobic and racial slurs before and after the attack.

The incident happened late Sunday night after midnight outside The Meyer Bar on South Washington Street.

"Not uncommon around here. Some sketchy person came into the door. I ushered them away," said Henry Keiser, a doorperson at the bar.

Despite his efforts, a confrontation escalated outside the suspect asked for drugs and alcohol and was denied by a bar manager. Police say the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the employee in the face — and a bystander who attempted to intervene.
