Cedric Spencer, a Ku-ring-gai councillor on Sydney’s upper north shore, has been charged after he allegedly vowed to kill a fellow councillor during a menacing phone call.

Councillor Spencer will head to court this week after NSW Police charged him one with one count of using a carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

Mr Spencer, who has previously served as deputy mayor and mayor at the council, allegedly unleashed a “verbal tirade” against fellow councillor Matthew Devlin during an intense phone call in November 2024.

The ex-mayor is alleged to have told Mr Devlin “I will f****** kill you” after rumours he had lodged a code of conduct complaint against Mr Spencer.
