A South Lanarkshire pensioner has been convicted of making the "death sign" from his window during a dispute with his next door neighbour.

Robert Kerr, 82, was in tears after he was found guilty of making a threatening gesture at his throat as well as shouting and swearing at Stephen Calveley, 73, when a dispute formed in Biggar.

His conviction comes after Kerr, who has lived in his home for nearly 60 years, was handed an antisocial behaviour warning after being accused of singing Flower of Scotland while he washed his car in earshot of his English neighbour, the Daily Record reports.

Defiant Robert said: “I’ve done nothing wrong. I’m devastated to have a criminal record at the age of 82.

“I should be enjoying my retirement but my life has been sheer hell over all of this.
