Police in Nkhata Bay are keeping in custody kamwendo Nkhoma; 31, Lowani Juba; 54, Jack Banda, 38 and Austin Chiusi; 62, for allegedly stealing trees and producing timber at Kawalazi Estate.

It is reported that on October 12, 2025, at about 08:30 hours as security guards were patrolling within field 11 of Likungwi division of the estate, they came across Nkhoma and Juba sawing timber while Banda was cultivating along the wet lands.

Upon questioning them, they revealed that they were sent by Chiusi as they all work for him.

The matter was reported at Mzenga Police Unit and a team of detectives visited the scene of crime where they found that over fifteen trees had already been processed into timber, team managed to seize six planks and two saw blades.
