OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A Holland Township teen is in critical condition after he was ejected from his vehicle as it flipped at least 10 times and caught fire, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 17-year-old was airlifted to the hospital.

The crash was reported at 8:09 p.m. on Douglas Avenue and North River Avenue in Holland Township.

The investigation showed the teen was driving a 1999 Honda CR-V at high speed when he ran a red light at Douglas Avenue and struck another eastbound vehicle, a 2021 Toyota 4Runner, that was slowing in the left lane. The driver of the CR-V lost control of the vehicle before it left the road.

Witnesses said it flipped at least 10 times before it caught fire. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.
