LAKE COUNTY, MI – A man riding a mini-bike was killed when he crashed into tree stump on a trail, sheriff’s deputies said.
The victim was a 65-year-old Muskegon man. His name was not released.
The crash happened around 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, on an unnamed trail near U.S. Forest Service Road 8445 in Lake County’s Elk Township. Witnesses told police that the driver was riding the mini-bike west on the trail when it hit the tree stump.
The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown upon impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Lake County sheriff’s deputies said.
The crash remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sauble-Elk-Eden Fire Department, Life EMS U.S. Forest Service.
