The Department for Work and Pensions says FOUR GROUPS of over-66s won't get the Winter Fuel Payment. After it was reinstated by the Labour Party government, the DWP is to hand the £300 payment to millions more older people.

But four groups won't be able to benefit from the perk. People will not be eligible if they live outside England and Wales OR were in hospital getting free treatment for the whole of the week of 15 to 21 September 2025 and the year before that need permission to enter the UK and your granted leave says that you cannot claim public funds.

Others not eligible include those who were in prison for the whole of the week of 15 to 21 September 2025 OR those who live in a care home, under DWP guidelines.
