A mum has been hailed "a huge inspiration" by her loved ones after overcoming suicide attempts, shedding 10 stone, and navigating motherhood to finish one of the globe's most gruelling triathlons.
Various obstacles in Amy Edward's life motivated her to tackle the Ironman Calella-Barcelona - a 2.4-mile ocean swim followed by a 112-mile cycling challenge, immediately followed by a marathon (26.2 miles) - all completed continuously without rest. The 33-year-old revealed that before she could even contemplate the difficulties posed by the ultra-triathlon, she spent years "putting herself back together" after battling with her mental wellbeing.
