THOMPSONVILLE, MI – The color change is underway at the Michigan Legacy Art Park in Northern Michigan.

The autumn color change has happened very slowly this year , with a lot of green yet to turn across the Lower Peninsula. That’s the case at the outdoor sculpture park adjacent to Crystal Mountain Resort in Benzie County.

Angie Quinn, executive director of the nonprofit art park , said the maple trees are already turning colors, but most of the park’s beech trees are only getting started changing colors and still remain mostly green.

That’s expected to change in the coming days, she said.

Dozens of contemporary outdoor sculptures are displayed along two miles of hiking trails across the park’s 31 acres of hardwood forest. Visitors are asked not to climb on the sculptures and stay o
