HOULTON, Maine (WABI/WAGM) - Houlton residents are organizing a protest Tuesday evening outside of their town office.
It comes after the town council voted Friday to place Town Manager Cameron Clark on administrative leave, following his arrest last month on domestic violence assault and witness tampering charges.
The decision to place Clark on leave has divided the community, with some residents saying the council’s action came too late.
In total, five council members have resigned including the council chair.
Three of those council members say their resignation is in response to threats directed toward council members.
The other two, which resigned nearly two weeks ago say their decision was in protest of the council’s decision to keep Clark in his position.
