GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Public Health said five new measles cases have been confirmed amid an outbreak linked to the Upstate.
As of Tuesday, 16 total measles cases have been confirmed this year in the Palmetto State. A dozen of those cases are related to an outbreak in Spartanburg County.
More than 130 students at Global Academy and Fairforest Elementary in Spartanburg County have been quarantined at home after the schools had confirmed measles cases.
SCDPH said a child’s exposure has also been linked to Crunch Fitness on South Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville.
Health officials are asking anyone who was at the gym on Sept. 30 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to see a healthcare provider if they believe they were exposed.
