APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — An East Valley resident was rescued from floodwaters in Apache Junction on Monday evening after a car was swept into the Weekes Wash.
The Apache Junction Police Department said officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle swept by fast-moving water in the area of 4th Avenue and Tomahawk Road.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 59-year-old Chandler resident. Police threw a rope to the driver, helping an officer to reach the vehicle and assist the driver out.
Once they safely exited the water, firefighters evaluated the driver and cleared him without injury. The vehicle was later recovered and towed to the driver's residence.
