BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating after a Decatur County Jail employee allegedly sexually assaulted a female inmate who was in custody at the jail.

The suspect is Antonio Simpson, 20. Simpson was previously employed by the Decatur County Jail but was terminated on Oct. 6, according to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).

In addition to allegedly sexually assaulting an inmate on Feb. 26, Simpson was also charged with felony furnishing prohibited items to an inmate in November 2024, March 2025 and February 2025, DCSO said. According to the GBI, the prohibited item was an unauthorized cell phone he gave the same inmate he is accused of sexually assaulting.
