Reports made to Colorado’s anonymous Safe2Tell program spiked last month with students on high alert following a shooting at Evergreen High School, bringing in the second-highest monthly total in the program’s 21-year history.

Elevated reporting often follows significant school safety incidents, and September’s uptick showed “an increased statewide vigilance” in the days after a 16-year-old student opened fire and wounded two fellow classmates before turning the gun on himself, said Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, whose office collects the monthly reports.
